LG: camera with 16 lenses coming soon?

LG has filed a patent for a new smartphone with 16 rear camera sensors, here’s what the super phone for photos should look like

Did you get excited about the four rear cameras in the new Galaxy A9 2018? Or are you looking forward to Nokia unveiling its PureView design with at least 10 rear sensors in its new top of the line? If you are gassed about these devices forget them, LG in fact is about to announce a smartphone with 16 photo sensors.

Apparently, in the world of telephony for manufacturers, especially Android ones, a photo sensor is like cherries, one pulls the other. The first was Huawei with its three rear sensors in the P20 Pro, then we started to see smartphones with four cameras and projects of phones with 6-8-10 sensors. In short, you name it, and to have the last word on the subject seems to want to be the South Korean company LG. Jokes aside, LG last November 20, 2018 filed with the United States Patent Office the design for a phone with 16 rear lenses. Are you wondering how 16 sensors can fit? Simple, four rows of four one horizontal to the other. And, to be honest, the aesthetic impact is not the best.

LG: soon smartphone with 16 cameras

According to the project of the South Korean company, the arrangement of these 16 cameras is such as to provide a different perspective or effect with each of the 16 sensors. The user will then be able to select a single image of the 16 or combine the image captured by all or some sensors to get high quality shots or with special effects. But that’s not all, in addition to the LED Flash placed under the cameras LG’s innovative phone will also have a mirror on the back, to take selfies even with the 16 rear sensors.

As always when we talk about patents we should not expect LG to really present soon a phone with 16 cameras. But it is possible that the company will continue to experiment in this regard. Perhaps to create a smartphone with 4 or 6 rear sensors each with a specific task to enhance and facilitate the shots of users. There is curiosity then on the rear mirror, if it became a trend could disrupt the way of taking selfies that people currently use. It seems difficult, however, its immediate use for two reasons: aesthetically it is not beautiful and removes the user the ability to manage any filters in augmented reality very fashionable at the time, but only appear on the main screen of the device.
