Sky launches Sky Virtual Audio, a feature that lets you listen to recorded stadium sounds to create a true match effect. How it’s activated and how it works
The Serie A has officially restarted with the match between Torino and Parma. A Serie A in many ways different from the pre-Covid-19 one. Masks for players on the bench, social distancing between people on the teams’ staffs, and more control when going to protest with the referee. Most importantly, there are no fans in the stands. An almost surreal atmosphere: without the chants of the fans, you can hear very well the voices of the coaches and what the players are saying on the field.
An alternative solution was already seen during the Coppa Italia final: the Lega di Serie A created a virtual animation that tried to recreate the choreography of the stadium. An experiment that was only half successful. Now Sky is proposing a solution to recreate the “stadium effect” as much as possible: virtual audio. Users will be able to activate the “Sky Virtual Audio” option in their decoder’s settings to listen to the recorded sounds of the stadium, as if there were a real audience. Here’s what Sky Virtual Audio is and how to activate it.
What Sky Virtual Audio is
Sky Virtual Audio is a new feature available to all subscribers to the satellite broadcaster’s Sport and Football packages. The feature allows you to reproduce during the Serie A matches the recorded sounds of the stadium: the chants of the fans and the buzz of the people. How to activate Sky Virtual Audio during Serie A matches
Activating Sky Virtual Audio is very simple. You have to go to the channel that is broadcasting the match, press the “i” button on the remote control and select “Original Audio” in the item dedicated to sounds. In this way, as if by magic, you will begin to hear the voices of the stadium. While waiting for the fans to return to their seats, it’s definitely a good option to get into the match mood.
