Intel recently filed a patent for a two-in-one laptop that has a curved screen and keyboard to better fit travelers’ legs
Patents often say a lot, or everything, about the company filing them. Sure, almost never do any of them see the light of day, but they still indicate the direction of a particular brand’s efforts. Judging by one of the latest patents filed, Intel’s future will be centered around laptops with curved screens.
The Intel-designed notebook wouldn’t be anything new: At CES 2017 in Las Vegas, Acer unveiled the Predator 21X, a 21-inch notebook with a fully curved 4K screen. The only problem with the Taiwanese company’s laptop was its weight of over eight kilograms, which makes it difficult to transport. Intel’s patented solution is slightly different than the one made by Acer. The computer of the U.S. company is a hybrid that will give users the opportunity to detach the screen and use it as if it were a tablet (to find out how it is made, just look at the images in the photo gallery)
How is made the curved computer of Intel
The U.S. company has filed a patent last November, but it was discovered only in recent days. At its interior you can see several interesting elements. First of all, it is a device with a removable screen entirely curved. Its peculiarity, however, more than in the display is in the keyboard and touchpad. Even this part of the laptop in the patent, in fact, was designed in a curved manner. Joining the two parts is quite simple thanks to two hinges placed in the central part of the device. Passare dalla classica modalità portatile a quella tablet, anche se curvo, non sarà dunque un problema.
Perché è totalmente curvo?
La particolarità di questo brevetto ovviamente sta nella sua forma. In molti si sono chiesti perché sia totalmente curvo. Per molti la tastiera ricurva non aiuterà l’utilizzo su superfici piane e sarà molto scomodo da usare su scrivanie o postazioni di lavoro. Altri hanno ipotizzato un utilizzo del dispositivo principalmente per l’intrattenimento. Con un grande schermo di qualità, supportato da una parte con tastiera e touchpad opzionale nella maggior parte delle operazioni. Altri invece pensano che Intel abbia realizzato un portatile due in uno pensato per business man e studenti sempre in viaggio. La curvatura della tastiera sarebbe infatti ideale per far adattare il dispositivo alle gambe dell’utente e renderne semplice l’utilizzo da seduti in aereo, treno o autobus. Per scoprire chi ha ragione bisognerà aspettare i prossimi lavori firmati Intel.
