No More Ransom, 15 more free tools to defeat ransomware

No More Ransom is becoming more global as new partners join and new decryption tools are added to fight the blackmail virus

No More Ransom, born less than a year ago, is an initiative strongly backed by the Dutch National Police, Europol, and two companies specializing in cybersecurity, Kaspersky Lab and Intel Security (formerly McAfee), with the goal of helping ransomware victims recover their encrypted data, without having to pay ransom to cyber criminals.

The No More Ransom site not only teaches users how to protect themselves from this infamous ransomware virus, but also provides a number of decryption tools. More than 10,000 victims from all over the world – since last December – have been able to regain possession of their data without shelling out a penny, but simply by using these very tools that can be downloaded for free from the platform. Statistics show that the majority of the website’s visitors come from Russia, the Netherlands, the United States, Italy and Germany.

Worldwide problem

It is, therefore, an initiative that works and is growing very fast. In fact, No More Ransom has recently welcomed some 30 new organizations, including Avast, CERT Polska and Eleven Paths (the Telefonica Cyber Security Unit), demonstrating that ransomware is felt to be a worldwide threat and needs to be fought globally.

  • AVAST: Alcatraz Decryptor, Bart Decryptor, Crypt888 Decryptor, HiddenTear Decryptor, Noobcrypt Decryptor e Cryptomix Decryptor
  • Bitdefender: Bart Decryptor
