Narcos: Mexico 3 could come out in late 2021 or early 2022. Filming suspended due to coronavirus
The third season of Narcos: Mexico, the Netflix TV series that tells the story of the Mexican drug cartels, has not yet been announced, but it is very likely that Netflix has already put it into production. Filming has already begun, but was halted due to the pandemic and the release has been postponed until a later date.
The second season closes the epic of Felix Gallardo, the creator of the Guadalajara cartel and the first to try to build a drug alliance in Mexico. But as often happens with bosses, he was arrested by the DEA and serves an exemplary sentence in the United States. Narcos, like many other TV series of this type (Gomorrah above all), was born precisely with the aim of telling the epic of the various bosses and how they all ended up the same: in prison or dead. So, the role is not to incense the underworld, but to show how in the end the good guys always have the better.
Narcos: Mexico 3 should continue from the end of the second season and tell the story of Amado Carrillo Fuentes, lord of the Juarez cartel and also known as the Lord of the Skies. We are at the beginning of the 90s and before the arrival of Chapo (probably the most famous Mexican boss) we have to wait at least another couple of seasons.

According to some rumors the filming of Narcos: Mexico 3 has already started before the official announcement of the renewal by Netflix. But they were stopped immediately because of the pandemic and are currently suspended indefinitely. After all, Covid-19 is claiming many victims in Mexico and the USA, the nations where the TV series is supposed to be filmed.
Most likely we won’t see Narcos: Mexico 3 before the last months of 2021, if not even in 2022.

The third season should focus on Amado Carrillo Fuentes, better known as the Lord of the Skies (for the huge fleet he had to move drugs) and head of the Juarez cartel. Narcos: Mexico 3 should also talk about the war that broke out between the various cartels after the arrest of Felix Gallardo for control of territory and trafficking. Those hoping the new season would talk more about the rise of El Chapo will have to wait: the series is still set in the 1990s, while the rise of the Sinaloa boss is from the early 2000s.
