Xiaomi Mi 7, characteristics of the new Chinese top-of-the-line smartphone

Xiaomi is almost ready to launch the Mi 7, it will be a smartphone without bezels, with dual cameras and on board we will find the Snapdragon 845

Xiaomi in recent times is also conquering the Western market, so much so that the Chinese company has begun to sell in Italy as well. After dedicating the first months of the year to launching mid-range devices, Xiaomi will dedicate the second quarter of 2018 to the top models. The Chinese company is also preparing to launch two new devices: Xiaomi Mi 7 and Xiaomi Mi 7 Plus

The line drawn by Samsung and LG with borderless phones, that is without bezels and full screen, is making school among the various Android devices. The Xiaomi Mi 7 will also be a borderless smartphone with an aspect ratio of 18:9. To be fair on the new Xiaomi a small bezel is there, and it is located at the top of the screen and is used to house the front camera. In fact, the notch, the notch made famous by Apple, will also debut on a Xiaomi smartphone and will do so on the Mi 7 and Mi 7 Plus. The OLED screen of the two devices will be made by Samsung will have support for the Always On Display feature. A display that will leave no room for a physical button and fingerprint sensor. It is very likely that it will be moved to the back of the device or inserted under the screen (not very likely).

Technical features Xiaomi Mi 7

The Xiaomi Mi 7 will be a real top of the range. On board we will in fact find 6GB of RAM to support the new chipset from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 845. Users will have two models available, one with 64GB and the other with 128GB. Mind you, the storage space will not be expandable.

Xiaomi Mi 7 Photo Department

As for the rear camera on the Xiaomi Mi 7 we will find two 16-megapixel sensors with a focal aperture of 1.7 with real-time bokeh functionality and electronic image stabilization. The battery capacity should be the same as already seen on the predecessor (Xiaomi Mi 6), namely 3170mAh. The smartphone should not have support for wireless charging.

Features Mi 7 Plus

The Mi 7 Plus will be just an enlarged version of the Mi 7. The hardware and photographic compartment is the same: Snapdragon 845, supported by 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of internal storage. In the back there will be a dual camera with sensors made by Sony. The screen, however, will be different. Aspect ratio of 18:9 but size of 6.01 inches. The battery will be upgraded to 3500mAh.

Facial Scanning Xiaomi Mi 7 and Mi 7 Plus

Lately, Xiaomi has collaborated with the company Himax Technology to make its own sensor for 3D face scanning. According to the first rumors, the sensor will be ready for January 2018 and the Chinese company should mount it on the Mi 7. The smartphone will, therefore, have a system for facial recognition very similar to that found on the iPhone X. As for the fingerprint reader, the Mi 7 and Mi 7 Plus should adopt two different solutions. The Mi 7 will mount the fingerprint reader at the back of the device, while the Mi 7 Plus might adopt the under-screen fingerprint sensor already seen on other devices (including the Mate RS).

Price and release date Xiaomi Mi 7 and Mi 7 Plus

The price of the Xiaomi Mi 7 is very aggressive for the smartphone market. We’re talking about 350 euros for the 64GB model and about 450 euros for the 128GB model. The device, initially expected at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in early 2018, should instead be presented on May 23. This, at least, suggests an apparently official poster that has been circulating for a few days among Chinese social networks. If this is the case, the Xiaomi Mi 7 could land on Asian markets already before the summer.
