From the early hours of April 1, the INPS site is unreachable due to the too high number of accesses. Here’s what’s happening

Update 12:00 noon. Users report new problems on the INPS website. By accessing your personal profile you can see those of other users. This is what is happening.

Update 2:00 pm. The service has been temporarily suspended. If you try to access the site, you will be greeted by this message:

“In order to allow a better and more effective channeling of service requests, the site is temporarily unavailable. We assure that all those entitled will be able to usefully submit the application to obtain the benefits.”

President Tridico also explained that “In the last few days, and also this morning, we have received violent hacker attacks. This morning they added up to the many accesses, which reached 300 questions per second, and the site did not hold up. Therefore, we have now suspended the site. We will reopen it from 8.00 to 16.000 for patronages and consultants and from 16.00 for citizens”.

General problems on the INPS website: today April 1 many users report that the portal of the National Social Security Institute does not work. On Google Trends there are thousands of user searches highlighting the problem. Our editorial staff tried to access the website and actually the response times are very slow: to enter the INPS portal you have to wait at least a couple of minutes for the page to load. In other cases, instead, the writing “Unable to reach the site” appears.

What are the causes that are leading to these problems? Very simple: from today it is possible to request the bonus of 600 euros for VAT numbers and self-employed people present in the Decree Cura Italia. Since the early hours of April 1, thousands of Italians are trying to connect to the INPS website and start the procedure to request the bonus. Probably the number of simultaneous accesses is so high that the servers of the INPS website cannot support all the incoming traffic, slowing down the opening of the pages. In the next few hours the situation should improve.

Why the INPS site is not reachable on April 1

The INPS president himself, Tridico, in an interview with ANSA, warns about the slowdown problems of the INPS site “From one in the morning to about 8.30, we received 300 thousand regular applications. Now we are receiving 100 applications per second. A thing never seen on the INPS systems that are holding up, although the clogs are inevitable with these numbers”. Problems, therefore, in line with expectations: it was inevitable that since the early hours of April 1 thousands of people would have poured on the INPS site to send the application for the 600 euro bonus.

Always the INPS president Tridico wanted to reassure the VAT account holders and the self-employed: “There is no hurry. Applications can be made throughout the period of the crisis.” So, if you are having problems accessing the INPS website, don’t worry: you can send your application in the next few days: the funds have been assured by the Government and everyone will be able to access them.
