The “technological” ascent of Roberto De Jesus Escobar Gaviria, better known as the brother of “Pablo” the most famous drug trafficker in the world, continues. After making headlines with the announcement of the launch of the Escobar Fold 1, a foldable smartphone with a very low price, now his Colombian company Escobar Inc. has presented the Escobar Fold 2.
Apparently it’s a “restyling” in a “trash” key of a simple Samsung Galaxy Fold, enriched with a logo bearing the Escobar family coat of arms and a shiny gold-plated body. Not to be outdone is the marketing campaign for the new Colombian smartphone: winking, half-naked women. The main feature of the Escobar Fold 2 is the price: it is sold on the company’s website for only $399, when the launch price of the Galaxy Fold from which it takes inspiration (it has the same form factor, materials and hardware components) exceeds 2000 euros. A “discount” of 75% difficult to explain.

Roberto Escobar has certainly not skimped on the technological components of his new folding jewel. Of all respect the technical card of the phone: Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, RAM available in two versions of 8 or 12 GB and storage space of 128 or 512 GB. The main display is a 7.3-inch AMOLED, while the external one is 4.6 inches, also AMOLED.
The photo compartment consists of a 12-megapixel main sensor, a 12-megapixel telephoto lens and a 16-megapixel wide-angle lens. Two front-facing cameras of 10 and 8 Megapixels respectively, with a standard and a wide-angle lens. Finally, 4,380 mAh battery and Android 10 operating system.
The uniqueness of the Escobar Fold 2 is the price: the Colombian company has decided to launch the smartphone at $399 for the version with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage and only $549 for the top-of-the-line variant with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. A price that, when compared to the list price of the Samsung Galaxy Fold in Italy, is about a quarter. For the sake of the record, however, it should be mentioned that online you can find clones of the South Korean phone in question at very similar prices.

Is this real? Ordering the phone on the site of the Colombian company, are we sure that it will be safely shipped to our homes or will there be some surprise? For now it is not known. The news about deliveries of the first smartphone, are conflicting. According to what can be found online, those who had ordered the first version of the foldable smartphone was delivered a series of gadgets and photos of Pablo Escobar with the promise of sending the Escobar Fold 2. It’s hard to tell if this smartphone really exists, but the price raises more than a few doubts.
