Among the published patents we find those regarding Smart Keyboard, Night Shift, stain-resistant covers and on the creation of 3D maps
Apple is serious, as evidenced by the 70 new patents that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has granted before the end of 2016 to the California-based company. The inventions registered include interactive 3D maps, prototype covers and smart keyboards for the iPad and iPad Pro, and more.
Let’s start with the Night Shift. The patent talks about electronic devices consisting of displays that are able to change brightness based on different environmental conditions. The screen, in fact, could integrate a series of pixels that through a control circuit would be able to vary the light emitted. The patent describes three possible uses: paper mode, low mode and bright mode. In the first case the technology would allow the display to reproduce the visual condition (lights and colors) found on a printed sheet of paper. In the second situation instead simulates the light of a light bulb, while in the third option, when the ambient light is high, reduces the brightness.
Interactive 3D maps
As seen, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has also published other patents among which we find some technologies for the creation of interactive three-dimensional maps. In particular, we focus on the use of gestures to activate and “manipulate” interactive maps. The device, according to what is stated in the patent, will be able to process a series of 3D touch commands ranging from zoom to rotation, pan and tilt mode. The commands will be able to be activated individually or simultaneously.
Stain-resistant cover
Among the 70 patents there is also one that proposes the use of a special resin layer that would be able to repel stains. The main feature of this substance is that once applied on the surface to be protected, it would be able to keep intact both the external appearance and the tactile sensation of the object. The new technology could be used in Smart Covers manufactured by Apple.
