IPhone 12 Pro, goodbye to the Pro Motion display: here’s why

No Pro Motion display for iPhone 12 Pro: to see the new technology on Apple’s smartphone will have to wait until 2021

To see the Pro Motion screen with 120 Hz refresh rate on an iPhone will have to wait again. For those who hoped that the display technology used on the iPad Pro would also land on the iPhone 12 Pro coming in October, disappointment is just around the corner: it will not arrive before 2021.

The hope that the Pro Motion screen would also come with the iPhone 12 is fading away rumor after rumor. In the latest rumors circulating online, the wait could be even longer and Apple may not equip iPhones with Pro Motion until 2021. The Pro Motion screen feature was one of the most anticipated for Apple’s new upcoming smartphone, but those who want to buy it will have to give it up.

iPhone 12 Pro, no Pro Motion before 2021?

At the moment it is not clear why this decision, which could hide battery life issues or simply believe that for iPhones this technology you do not know necessary and therefore prefer displays with a refresh rate of only 60 Hz.

On the other hand, smartphone manufacturers are always looking for new features and functions to improve their devices, in a market that is growing rapidly and where the peak of existing technology has been reached. In this scenario, even the refresh rate of the screen becomes a factor to be included among the novelties, but it does not represent a key factor for the good functioning of the smartphone. Perhaps this very last thought is behind Apple’s choice.

iPhone 12 Pro, features and price

The new iPhone 12 Pro will also come in a Max version, with 6.1 and 6.7-inch screens respectively and 2775 mAh and 3687 mAh batteries.  The best part of Apple’s smartphone, now that the Pro Motion screen fades, will be the camera, which allows you to shoot 4K video with the slow motion function capable of holding 120 and 240 fps at full resolution. A value that beats that of the current iPhone 11, which stops at 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. Pricing ranges from $1049 for an iPhone 12 Pro with 128GB of internal storage, to $1449 for an iPhone 12 Pro Max with 512GB of internal storage, but for those in euros we’ll have to wait longer.
