Asus is ready to launch the Zenfone 7 and the Zenfone 7 Pro, top of the range smartphones with Snapdragon 865 processor and Flip camera
Two good news for Asus smartphone fans: the first is that the Zenfone 7 is coming, even in the Pro version, the second is that it will have the flip camera like the previous model Asus Zenfone 6. Both confirmations come from the Taiwanese online newspaper TNNToday.
That the Zenfone 7 would arrive sooner or later was a sure thing, but it was expected earlier: when in February Qualcomm presented the list of smartphones that would integrate its top-of-the-line Snapdragon 865 SoC (at the time, now there is also the Snapdragon 865+), in fact, the Zenfone 7 was already mentioned. Probably because of the coronavirus, the times have been dilated but now, according to the Taiwanese header, should be missing little to the launch of this new top of the range generalist Asus (which has instead in the ROG 3 the top of the range for gaming). According to TNNToday will come in two versions and two colors: Asus Zenfone 7 and Zenfone 7 Pro, in white or black.
Asus Zenfone 7: the flip camera
As said, according to sources consulted by TNNToday, the Zenfone 7’s camera will have the same flip mechanism as that of the Zenfone 6. However, it is very likely that it will have new sensors with higher resolution while it is not yet clear if it will have more than two sensors. It’s still unclear if the flip camera mechanism will be manageable via the volume keys, like on the Zenfone 6, and if some camera features (like night mode) will still not be available on the Zenfone 7 either. In any case, the photo department of the previous smartphone was already very good, so it’s to be expected that the Zenfone 7 will take great pictures.
Asus Zenfone 7: technical specifications
As already mentioned, the Zenfone 7 will feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC. There is also a possibility, but no confirmation about it, that the Pro version will use the 865+. Both versions, however, will feature 5G connectivity. A little less than a month ago, on the smartphone benchmark platform Geekbench 5, a mysterious device named Asus ZF appeared and that would look just like the Zenfone 7: it was equipped with Snapdragon 865 and 16 GB of RAM and reached the score of 973 in single core and 3,346 in multi core. Two very high values, both higher than the current top performer of Geekbench 5 for Android, namely the new OnePlus 8.
