From August 31, 2018 to September 5, the Berlin International Technology Fair will take place, here are the main devices that will be presented
IFA 2018, i.e. the most important international technology fair in the European context is now just around the corner. In fact, the event will be held in Berlin from August 31 to September 5, 2018 and will be the opportunity for fans to see many new devices coming out in the next few months.
From televisions equipped with artificial intelligence to new voice assistants for the smart home. There are plenty of new devices we can expect from the Berlin tech fair this year. Among all the devices that will be on the German stage surely the latest generation TVs will be the master: after several rumors the 8K screens are finally ready to be released on the market. It’s a different story when it comes to smartphones, IFA has almost never been the preferred fair for mobile manufacturers, even if this year LG might have some surprises in store for the Berlin technological event.
TV
As already mentioned, televisions are perhaps the electronic devices that will steal the show during the IFA event in Berlin. We will see several manufacturers take the stage to present their models with 8K resolution. There will also be smart TVs equipped with artificial intelligence to improve TV settings based on what we’re watching or based on the time of day. As for the display technology MicroLED will remain the most used one while we expect some important news from OLED screens.
Smartphones
With Samsung Galaxy Note 9 already presented and 2018 iPhones on the launch pad, at the moment Apple plans the official presentation for September 12, IFA happens at the wrong time to have big news about the smartphone world. In addition, the Berlin event does not have a great tradition on these devices and struggles to attract manufacturers . This does not mean, however, that we can not expect surprises. LG for example in Germany should present two new variants of its top of the range G7. While ZTE will take advantage of the event to announce the Axon 9.
Smart home
At IFA 2018 we will see a lot of smart home devices, which on the other hand are also among the most popular devices at the moment given the strides made by artificial intelligence and voice assistants in recent months. Samsung and LG will be showing off the new features of their respective artificial intelligences, Bixby and ThinQ. We will see a proliferation of smart refrigerators and appliances that are connected to the Internet and can communicate with each other to reduce waste and consume less energy. These breakthroughs will bring new voice management tools to our smart home assistants like Google Home. With a voice command we’ll be able to adjust the temperature of the fridge or operate the washing machine.
Robotics
Robots will also take center stage in Berlin. And surely among the most amazing ones we will find Sony’s Aibo robot dog. The Japanese company has already presented its robotic four-legged pet but has updated it and will also bring it to IFA 2018. Among household robots we will find automatic vacuum cleaners that can now also wash the floor thanks to built-in water tanks. Finally, LG will try to surprise everyone with a new wearable robot that will help in the movements of people who have suffered a serious accident or were born with deformities.
Computers
The world of laptops is going through a stalemate that is unlikely to be overcome with the devices on the launch pad at IFA 2018. Dell, Asus, Lenovo and Acer are all companies that have one or more computers in store to present in Berlin but we’re unlikely to find a truly revolutionary notebook. They will most likely be updates to the models already on the market. Curisoity around Intel that should launch some new processors and on the new Chromebook 2 in 1 made with Qualcomm processor.”
