WhatsApp changes interface again to make chats more readable and less stressful for the eyes, here’s how to activate the novelty.
The Facebook group continues to test novelties for its instant messaging app WhatsApp, one of the most used apps in the world but also one of those with the most attentive and demanding users in terms of new features. That’s why WhatsApp is constantly changing, along two main lines of development.
The first is the one that is leading the messaging app to become an app to do online shopping as well, for example thanks to the new shopping cart feature just released globally, and the second is the one related to the interface. And when it comes to WhatsApp’s interface, the feature most loved by users is undoubtedly the dark theme, Dark Mode. We’re talking about the dark theme today with WhatsApp’s latest innovation, which consists of a new design of the dark mode with colors slightly different from those we’re used to: this is the “Dark Green Bubble Color”, the “dark green” theme.
Dark Green Bubble Color: what it is
The Dark Green Bubble Color is a kind of “test Dark Mode”, in which the normal green color of the message bubbles is replaced by a fairly darker color, tending almost to gray. Only the messages of the user with whom we are chatting are drawn in this new color, while ours remain the same gray as before.
The result is pleasant and even more eye-catching, while it is almost impossible to tell whether the new color will have a positive or negative impact on battery life. Probably the difference will be unnoticeable, because the brightness of the chat is overall almost unchanged.
How to activate dark green messages on WhatsApp
The novelty of messages in Dark Green Bubble Color has been introduced in version 2.20.49.7 of WhatsApp Web, the version of WhatsApp for browsers. It is already available for everyone by activating the normal Dark Mode from Settings > Theme > Dark. Once the dark theme is activated, the new coloring is shown by default.
There is no way to choose, then, between the old coloring and the new one nor to activate dark green on the iOS and Android apps. It’s likely that WhatsApp is testing this new design on the web version to gather feedback from users and, if that feedback is positive, bring it to the mobile apps as well.
