Two models with modest technical features, but with a virtually unbeatable price: these are the new Smart TVs from Redmi and one could arrive in Italy
The Xiaomi group confirms its very clear intention to go on the attack of the Smart TV market with two new super cheap models under the Redmi brand: these are Redmi Smart TV 32 and Redmi Smart TV 43, with the two numbers in the name obviously indicating the size in inches of the panel of each model.
Launched at the moment only in India, one of the most important countries to make numbers at the low end of the market, there is no official news yet about a debut on the global market as well. But it is very likely that these two low-cost Smart TVs from Xiaomi-Redmi will be launched outside India as well, by early 2022. Selling prices in India are very low, but it’s good to remember that when low cost products arrive in Europe, prices almost always go up a few tens of euros, due to higher logistics costs and heavier taxation. One of the two models, the 32-inch one, on the other hand, it’s a given that it will never arrive in Italy due to its insufficient technical features.
Redmi Smart TV 32: technical features
The Redmi Smart TV 32 is the smallest and cheapest model of the two just presented, as well as the cheapest of the entire Redmi TV range: in fact, it costs 16.999 rupees, which at the current exchange rate makes about 189 euros.
To get such a low price Redmi had to file to the bone the technical features: we are talking about a Smart TV with quad-core MediaTek processor, resolution of just 1,366×768 pixels, ie HD Ready. This makes it almost impossible for this TV to arrive in Italy, where starting in October the switch off to the new DVB-T2 digital terrestrial will begin, which requires a minimum resolution of 1,920×1,080 pixels (Full HD).
For the rest, the features of Redmi Smart TV 32 are not bad: it has a four speaker 24W audio system (many competitors, even higher-end, stop at two 20W speakers), it has WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, 2 USB ports, 3 HDMI ports 8of which one with ARC) and a wired LAN network port.
The operating system adopted is Android TV, which makes the Redmi Smart TV 32 compatible with all streaming apps and the voice assistant Google Assistant.
Redmi Smart TV 43: technical specifications
Differently from the previous model, the 43-inch Redmi Smart TV features a Full HD panel, which makes it likely that it will arrive in Europe, including Italy.
The two models are otherwise virtually identical: the same processor, the same ports, the same wireless connections and the same Android operating system, with the same pre-installed apps. What does change, however, is the price, which remains very low: 25,999 rupees, or 300 euros.
