How to use Siri to send text messages with Whatsapp or Telegram

With iOS 10, Apple has made Siri compatible with third-party apps as well, allowing you to use voice commands to send messages with WhatsApp and Telegram

With voice commands, using your smartphone is much easier. Thanks to voice assistants like Siri, you can interact directly with smartphones and tablets, opening apps using just your voice. For example, you can send messages on WhatsApp and Telegram using Apple’s artificial intelligence.

The integration of Siri with WhatsApp has been made possible by Apple’s update to its mobile operating system. From iOS 10, in fact, the personal assistant can also be integrated with third-party applications. An opportunity that WhatsApp did not miss since after the release by Cupertino has immediately updated its application to include Siri as well. If we want to use this new feature the first step is to make sure that our iPhone is running with the latest version of iOS 10. If not, all we have to do is update the smartphone.

Update iPhone

To update an iPhone all we have to do is go to Settings, then General and select the item Software Update. Remember that this operation takes a few minutes and it is advisable to perform it with Wi-Fi on and not with the data connection. Once the update is complete we go to the App Store and look for WhatsApp. If we have never installed it let’s do so, on the contrary if we already have the messaging application let’s check if a newer version is available and download it.

Using Siri on WhatsApp

Before we can send messages with a voice command we must allow WhatsApp to access Siri. To do this, all we have to do is go back to Settings and from there select the Siri item. In the menu that appears we have to click on the heading App Support and then put the tick on the icon of WhatsApp. With these simple steps we will have authorized the messaging application to use the personal assistant. At this point all we have to do is tell Siri that we want to send a message via WhatsApp. The personal assistant will ask us which contact we want to write to, and all we have to do is say their name (it is important to pronounce the name exactly as written in the address book). At this point Siri will ask us what we want to write. Once the recording of our text is complete, we have to click on Send or say Send out loud. The same commands also apply to calls via WhatsApp.

Using Siri on Telegram

As we mentioned from iOS 10 onwards Siri can also be integrated with third-party apps. That’s why those who use another popular messaging app, like Telegram, can safely implement Siri and voice commands. To do so, of course, we must always make sure that we have updated the iPhone’s operating system to iOS 10. The process to make a call and send a message by taking advantage of Siri is the same as on WhatsApp. Just activate the personal assistant and ask her to make a call or write a text, this time, however, with Telegram. Obviously, however, first we must authorize Telegram to use the personal assistant. To do this we go to Settings, then click on Siri and then enter the App Support section. On the page that will open we have to tick the Telegram icon. And that’s it.
