Moto Watch 100 is the new smartwatch produced in America under license from Motorola: it’s a popularly priced smartwatch that could be successful
It’s called Moto Watch 100 and it’s the new Motorola-branded smartwatch but, unlike what you might think, it’s not produced by the well-known brand that makes smartphones. Moto Watch 100, in fact, is produced by eBuyNow Commerce under license from Motorola and, in fact, Motorola has only the name.
The “real” Motorola, however, no longer exists: the American company founded in 1928, in fact, was closed at the beginning of 2011 but the brands Motorola Solutions and Motorola Mobility have been sold. Motorola Solutions is now an American company active in the field of telecommunications equipment, Motorola Mobility is instead a sub-brand of Lenovo and produces the well-known cell phones. From the latter company eBayNow bought the license to build smartwatches: after a first attempt (very unsuccessful) in 2019 with the third-generation Moto 360, now it’s the turn of Moto Watch 100. This is an inexpensive smartwatch, with proprietary operating system and a good autonomy declared.
Moto Watch 100: technical characteristics
Moto Watch 100 is a smartwatch with a 42mm case, so not too big even for a thin wrist (it also weighs little: 29 grams), equipped with LCD screen “always on” 1.3 inches and 360×360 pixels.
The manufacturer claims to have used premium materials and speaks of aeronautical aluminum, from which comes the very low weight (but the plastic bottom also plays its part). Standard is the equipment of sensors, typical of smartwatches 2021: accelerometer, gyroscope, heart rate and blood oxygenation sensor (Sp02).
The watch is waterproof, up to 5 atmospheres, and has Bluetooth 5.0 connection, integrated GPS and proprietary Moto OS “that shows biometric data in a beautiful interface”. Of note is the battery, 355 mAh, which promises up to 14 days of autonomy.
Moto Watch 100: how much does it cost
Moto Watch 100 is a smartwatch with a rather low price: $99.99. Included in the package is a silicone strap and a cable for charging. It is not yet known if this model will arrive on the international market and at what price.
The Motorola brand (the smartphone one) is currently on the rise thanks to a series of well-received devices, such as the top-of-the-line Edge series. This could reflexively lead to good sales figures for the Moto Watch 100 produced by eBuyNow.
