On Apple Music coming streaming audio in very high quality, but you’ll need a good connection to get the best sound without interruptions.
Apple Music may soon change skin on Android. The Cupertino’s headquarters would be ready to launch the new lossless music streaming service able to offer an excellent listening experience thanks to audio files without any kind of compression and in very high quality.
The news has been given by the portal 9to5Google, after the teardown of the APK file of the Apple Music package dedicated to the Google’s operating system. Within the file, the team has found some obvious references to what will be the next introduction, thus launching the tasty anticipation for all fans of high-definition music listening. According to what the portal reported, the news could find an official confirmation as early as tomorrow, in conjunction with what is thought to be the event in which the new AirPods 3 will be presented. In addition to the Big G operating system, the Apple Music update will probably appear on the iOS 14.6 release.
Apple Music for Android, the characteristics of the lossless format
The lossless format of audio files keeps intact all the details of the music files, avoiding compression that normally eliminates some particular frequencies, flattening the sound and making it less rich than it was originally. Such a format also requires a greater amount of storage space on your device: to get an idea, 10GB of memory can accommodate 3000 high quality tracks, 1000 lossless and only 200 of high resolution lossless.
The same, of course, applies to streaming. That’s why Apple would introduce a specific warning in Music HiFi: “Lossless audio files preserve every detail of the original file. Enabling it will consume data traffic more significantly.” In fact, an optimally compressed 3-minute song can consume 1.5MB, but it can reach 145MB for the hi-res 24bit/192kHz version, not counting network conditions and the presence of headphones or amplifiers connected to the device.
And just lossless (ALAC up to 24-bit/48 kHz) and high-resolution lossless (ALAC up to 24-bit/192 kHz) should be the two formats offered by Apple Music for Android, both streaming and downloading, according to 9to5Google. In the beta version of iOS 14.6, even, there would have been a reference to Dolby Atmos and Dolby Audio, details, however, remained out of the application for the robot’s operating system.
If confirmed, the service would equal what so far only two competitors have done: Tidal and Amazon Music HD. Spotify, on the other hand, would remain out of the picture, despite having declared that one of its plans is to add such a service to its offer, it still wouldn’t have given signs of progress in this regard.
Apple Music, the new features
It’s a small addition that, however, would make the user experience even more pleasant. They are animated covers that, according to a post published on Reddit, should make their appearance in the next release of the application dedicated to Android. Short animated gifs will accompany the playback of songs, similar to what already happens for selected songs on the Spotify app.
Apple Music lossless, when it arrives
At the moment there is no release date for the new version of Apple Music for Android, since Cupertino has not yet confirmed the introduction. As anticipated in the opening, the announcement could arrive in a few hours, making it a minimum wait to learn more about the platform and the potential of the new service.
