Xiaomi has launched the Mi Band 5: the new activity tracker has a larger screen and a new technology for monitoring physical activity. Here’s how much it costs
The Mi Band 5 has finally been officially presented on the Italian market as well. During the event in which the three new electric scooters were presented, the Chinese company also presented the Mi Band 5, activity tracker of which by now we knew almost everything, except for two information considered essential by fans: the presence of NFC and the price. The presentation also reveals these two features: the NFC module is not present, while the price is 39.99 euros, which makes the smart band one of the most affordable on the market.
So good and bad news for users: the presence of NFC for contactless payments was considered important to allow the device a further step forward compared to previous models. Probably still there has not been an agreement with the various credit card operators to implement the feature also in the Mi Band 5 that will arrive in Europe. For the rest, everything has been confirmed, from the larger screen up to a cardio sensor even more accurate than before.
Mi Band 5, the features
The screen of the Mi Band 5 is one of the most interesting new features of the data sheet: it is 1.1 inches large, is entirely in color and allows you to choose from over 60 watch faces. Improvements also in physical activity tracking. As announced in previous months, the PIA (Personal Activity Intelligence) system has been integrated, which analyzes a person’s physical activity and provides accurate and timely data on the app. In total, there are eleven sports that can be monitored.
Bluetooth 5.0 is present, but GPS and Wi-Fi are absent in addition to NFC. On the charging front, a new magnetic charging system has been added that is much easier to use than those of the past.
