With the update to Fall Creators Update you can connect your smartphone with your computer and share news between the two devices
Computer and smartphone are two of the most used devices by users during the day. The former for business reasons, while the latter for personal reasons (keeping in touch with friends via WhatsApp, updating Facebook News Feed). Although they are so used by users, the two devices struggle to “communicate” with each other.
If you’re reading a news item on your PC (especially if it’s a long article) but you don’t have time and want to read it in the evening on your smartphone, you’re forced to save the link somewhere. A useless waste of time that could be solved if the two devices could communicate with each other. Microsoft has tried to solve the problem with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. In the settings of the operating system, the ability to add a smartphone to the devices connected to the computer was added. This allows you to share articles and news directly from your smartphone to your computer and vice versa.
How to connect smartphone and computer
The process of connecting smartphone and computer is very quick. First you need to enter inside Windows Settings. To do this, just type Settings in the search bar at the bottom left of the taskbar. Once in the settings you’ll have to click on Phone: a new tab will open in which you can add your smartphone. By clicking on the icon with the “+”, you’ll open a window in which you’ll have to enter your phone number. In this way Microsoft will send you an SMS with the link to install the Microsoft Edge application on your smartphone, the browser of the Redmond company. For the connection to happen, you’ll need to turn your computer off and on again.
Sharing links
When you’ve completed the procedure to connect your smartphone and computer, you’ll be able to start sharing links between the two devices. How to do it. If we’re browsing the Edge from the smartphone, just press the Share button at the bottom center of the menu. On the screen will appear all the devices connected with the smartphone, including your computer. We select it and at this point the article we were reading on the smartphone will appear on the PC screen.
Another option we have available on the smartphone is “Continue later”. Using this feature will send a notification to your computer with the URL of the article. To find the link, just go into the notification center on your PC (you have to press the last icon in the bottom right corner).
