A laptop in the hands of a kid? Yes! The Acer Chromebook 11 N7 survives drops, spilled water on the keyboard and accidental stomping
Acer designed the Chromebook 11 N7 (C731) specifically for use in the education sector: durable design, quiet operation without fans so as not to disturb, and able to withstand in the hands of even the most rambunctious students. Not surprisingly, it has passed rigorous military tests. The Acer Chromebook 11 N7 meets U.S. MIL-STD 810G military standards for ruggedness, durability and quality. It withstands up to 60 kg of force applied to the top cover, and the shell and hinges are reinforced to resist twisting and other stresses such as simply carrying it in a backpack. If it falls from a height of less than 122 cm it won’t shatter thanks to the protection of the corners and the rubber layer surrounding the keyboard. It may happen that it accidentally falls from a desk. A special cover facilitates the grip and helps prevent it from slipping from your hands, while the keyboard and touchpad are designed to resist even the infiltration of liquids through a system that makes them slide away from the key components inside.
Silent
The Acer Chromebook 11 N7, as already mentioned, is fanless not only to make it as quiet as possible, but the absence of air outlet grilles avoid the classic problem of dust accumulation while minimizing maintenance. New to this model is the presence of recessed keys, (almost) impossible to remove by students who dabble in disassembly and (perhaps) reassembly of hi-tech devices, and which are also more convenient to use than traditional ones.

(Taken from YouTube)
The Acer Chromebook 11 N7 comes in two versions: the C731 model with a standard 11.6-inch screen with a resolution of 1,366×768 pixels, while the C731T version features a touch-sensitive IPS display. The display’s hinge is designed to open 180 degrees. The rest of the features are the same, namely dual-core Intel Celeron processor, 16 GB or 32 GB of storage (depending on configuration) and 4 GB of RAM, a 12-hour battery life and dualband 2×2 MIMO 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 connections. The notebook is also equipped with two USB 3.0 ports, one HDMI, a 3.5mm audio combo to connect headphones and a built-in SD card reader. The Acer Chromebook 11 N7 is, therefore, robust, practical and handy 22 cm thick and weighing 1.35 kg. The operating system is of course Chrome OS, which will soon support Android applications. Both models will be available from February in Italy at a price starting from 249 euros.
