Sony is offering PS4 users free downloads of four very interesting video games: here are what they are
Play at Home, Play at Home. Sony could not have chosen a better name for its new initiative related to the containment of the pandemic that is affecting the whole world. The best way to curb Covid-19 is to stay at home and limit social contacts as much as possible and to pass the time one of the best ways is to play with the console, even better if it is a PS4. With the initiative Play at Home Sony gives all its users the opportunity to download some free videogames for PS4. And we’re not talking about little video games, but titles that have made the history of the console.
Play at Home, however, is not the only initiative presented by Sony. The Japanese company has also thought about the independent studios that are suffering through this particular period and has set up a $10 million fund that will support them in the coming months. The work of independent studios is fundamental for the success of a console and Sony knows it very well. Here are the free titles you can download for the PS4.
Play at Home: the free games
Transforming possible moments of boredom into healthy and pure fun, this is the purpose of the Play at Home initiative. And to do this, PlayStation is offering “Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection” and “Journey” for free. The games will be available for a limited time and can be downloaded for free on the PS4 from April 16 until May 6, 2020.
Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection is a collection of three titles created by the now famous Santa Monica-based production company Naughty Dog. The game tells the adventures of a mythical group of treasure hunters around the world. Journey, however, is a very particular video game and very suitable for the period we are living. Sony says that, in line with its aim to preserve internet access, game downloads in both the US and Europe may take longer than usual, but it relies on the understanding of its community to accept this measure to ensure access for all.
Play at Home: the fund for creatives
Sony is close to small independent developers, one of the pillars of the PlayStation gaming community. Small studios that are in a difficult economic situation due to the pandemic. That’s why Sony has set up a special $10 million fund to support independent development partners.
