Another change of frequencies for digital terrestrial television with two new channels in 5 Italian regions: here are all the details and who needs to retune.
After the changes to the HSE package in mid-February and those to Mux Quenza 1, Quenza 2 and Telelibertà last week, it is now the turn of Mux Studio 1. Once again, users in some regions will have to retune their decoders or TVs to continue to see all the channels.
The ongoing changes to the frequencies, however, cause a conflict in the numbering of channels and it is therefore likely that we will see further changes in the coming days. Also because it is basically a duplication of channels, with different LCNs but the same programming. Therefore, the dance of the frequencies continues this week, as foreseen by the schedule of the switch off of the old digital terrestrial standard, which will be completely replaced by the new DVB-T2 standard in June 2022, when the old signal will be switched off all over the country.
Digitale terrestre, i cambiamenti di canali
From theory to practice: which channels change and where. In the regions of Piedmont, Lombardy, Emilia Romagna, Veneto and Valle d’Aosta, two new channels have been added to the Studio 1 Mux: a duplicate of Galaxy TV (identified as Galaxy TV2) and a duplicate of Studio Live.
Galaxy TV becomes available on LCN 170 and 183, and transmits at standard resolution with MPEG2 compression, while Studio Live on LCN 178 and 179, again at standard resolution but with H.264
Must be retuned
To see these new channels, in the areas indicated above, it is necessary to retune the TV or decoder, at the end of which we will see a numbering conflict of both with the already existing Italia TV 3 of the Canale Italia Mux, which is present at LCNs 170 and 179.
Galaxy TV therefore becomes available at LCNs 170 and 183, and broadcasts at standard resolution with MPEG2 compression.
