The fifth season of Lucifer has undergone changes because of the renewal: here’s what the writers had to change
The renewal for the sixth season of Lucifer came almost unexpectedly. The writers and the producers were convinced that they had to end the story with the fifth season, which as we now know has been divided into two parts: the first was released on Netflix on August 21, the second will come when filming ends, probably for the beginning of 2021.
The writers had already prepared the entire fifth season, including the conclusion of the TV series. All postponed to the sixth season, with the need to rewrite even the finale of Lucifer 5. Surely the lengthening of the TV series will allow the writers to go even more specific in some stories, but at the same time it was a challenge to be able to maintain a logical thread in season 5. And in fact, as Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich said, the renewal has had an impact on the development of Lucifer 5, with the opportunity to deepen some stories that otherwise would have been addressed in a hurried way. The foundations for Lucifer 6 have already been laid with the second part of the fifth season and we can expect many twists and turns.
Lucifer 6, the first previews
The second part of the fifth season of Lucifer 5 will be a long prologue that will introduce the sixth and final season of the TV series. And family relationships will become increasingly important in the development of the story. The first part of the fifth season introduced two new characters: Michael, Lucifer’s twin brother, played by Tom Ellis himself, and the father of the two brothers, God.
Family dynamics that will already be featured in the second part of season five, but will become even more central in Lucifer 6. The renewal led the writers to revise some parts of season five in order to create new subplots to be developed in the future. The same writers and producers have confirmed the fact that the finale of season 5 (which will be seen when the second part is released) has been completely rewritten because of the renewal.
The rest, however, has remained identical to how it was imagined in the initial stages, so as not to lose the sense and soul of the fifth season.
When will the second part of Lucifer 5 and Lucifer be released
To see the second part of Lucifer 5 will not have to wait long. The filming is almost over and then we will have to wait for the post production work. The most likely scenario is the end of 2020 – the beginning of 2021. For the sixth season of Lucifer, however, we will have to wait even quite a while: probably the end of next year.
