Oppo’s first foldable smartphone is ready: when it arrives

Oppo’s first foldable would now be ready to take the path of the market: here’s when it will arrive according to the latest rumors of a reliable leaker

Oppo would now be ready to compete in a sector that is expected to expand rapidly, that of foldable smartphones. The rumors have managed to get some indications on when the first smartphone could arrive that would go to challenge the very good products already on the market, and the news is that it is not far away.

So it would be a short time to the debut of the first foldable smartphone from Oppo. The most recent rumors have been unbalanced about its arrival on the market, pointing to the month of November as the one that Oppo would have identified to throw in pursuit of those who came first. On all there is to scratch the leadership of Samsung that is already in its third generation of foldable, and that with the last seems to have hit the right formula between specifications, build quality and price, especially with Galaxy Z Flip3. Oppo would then be ready to “fight”, in a segment that is expected to expand rapidly.

The foldable of Oppo with “book” design

Samsung can boast two foldable in the list, one with a clamshell design the other that opens “book”. Oppo’s foldable should belong to the latter category, thus in line with Galaxy Z Fold3, Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold and Huawei Mate X2. According to rumors, Oppo would have designed a product with an OLED screen type LTPO – recent technology that reduces power consumption by a lot compared to the past – 8 inches and with a refresh rate of 120 Hz.

Possible, given the presence of LTPO technology, that the refresh rate can be variable, that is, with the management software can adjust the hertz depending on the activity performed, to always center the correct compromise between fluidity and power consumption. The Snapdragon 888 that is said to be put in the “control room” of the foldable Oppo is a very powerful chip, and that, pushed to the maximum, also consumes a lot, so with a technology of this type would be able to avoid “waste” of energy by increasing the autonomy.

The battery does not shine, but charging is fast

In this regard, rumors anticipate that inside the foldable smartphone Oppo there will be a battery of 4.500 mAh, certainly not huge (considering also how much they consume two screens so large) but with the possibility of recharging it quickly thanks to the 65-watt power technology.

Also emerged that it will have a main camera on the back Sony IMX766 50-megapixel: it will not be the only one, but for the moment we do not know other information about the sensors that will make up the camera group.

At the front there will be a 32-megapixel sensor for selfies, and again rumors have been silent about the possibility that the camera may be integrated under the screen, as on Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3. Who knows, Oppo has not worked in this direction and obtained the skills to arrange it under the screen managing to achieve satisfactory results in terms of shooting quality. The fingerprint reader for secure unlocking, however, will be lateral: on the frame.
