Why WhatsApp Web doesn’t connect

If WhatsApp Web doesn’t work, the causes can be different: a problem with the home Internet network, or a down of the application

WhatsApp Web is the browser version of the well-known instant messaging service. Few people use WhatsApp Web, since few are familiar with its functionality. For example, if we want to save on our computer photos and videos that have been sent to us via chat.

Sometimes, however, it may happen that WhatsApp Web does not connect and is impossible to use. The Web version of WhatsApp is compatible with all popular browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari and Edge. To use it you must, first of all, run a wizard that goes through the reading of a QR code via your smartphone. Once the procedure is finished, if WhatsApp Web doesn’t connect, it means that there is a problem either in the PC’s connection or in the service itself and, above the chat list, the message “Computer not connected” is displayed.

WhatsApp Web is not connecting due to connection problems

Since WhatsApp Web runs in a normal browser tab and not through an app on our smartphone, the connection it uses to work is not from our SIM card and mobile carrier, but Wi-Fi from our home network. If there is a problem with the fixed connection, therefore, we will not be able to connect to WhatsApp’s servers. The first thing to do is to unplug the router’s power cord for at least 30 seconds and then plug it back in. If this is not enough, sometimes it is necessary to call the support service of our Internet Provider.

WhatsApp Web does not connect to the corporate network

A special case is that of corporate networks, such as those in the offices of large companies, universities or other public institutions. In this case, the network may be filtered and automatically prevent access to certain sites, including WhatsApp’s. There is nothing we can do: we will not be able to use the service.

WhatsApp Web does not connect due to service problems

Finally, it is also possible that our connection is ok and there is no problem connecting, but WhatsApp Web still does not work. In this case the most likely reason is a WhatsApp service disruption, so we can only disconnect from the menu with the three vertical dots and try to reconnect. If it doesn’t work, it’s really a WhatsApp problem and we have to wait for it to be fixed.
