Exceptional ride in Tesla’s self-driving car to find out exactly how it sees and interprets the road. With an exceptional passenger: Elon Musk
The technology on self-driving cars is making great strides. For those who are still skeptical at the mere thought of a self-driving vehicle, take a few minutes to watch this video and learn about the latest and greatest in this innovative field aboard this Tesla model.
Elon Musk is behind the wheel, but he’s just being chauffeured around. It’s a name that often appears associated with innovative projects bordering on the impossible. Today he’s aboard a self-driving Tesla, of which he is CEO, but we’ve also heard of him when he mentioned the Hypeloop One supersonic train under construction in the United Arab Emirates, the SolarCity solar roof to produce clean energy and the SpaceX venture that aims to bring the Internet to the whole world via satellite.
Self-driving continues on its way
The video, posted on Twitter directly by Elon Musk – CEO of Tesla – shows us what a self-driving car “sees” during a trip on normal roads, not unlike those that any motorist travels. The demonstration reveals the alertness with which the on-board cameras, radars and sensors react to a large number of obstacles such as, for example, other vehicles, pedestrians and road signs.

The colors seen at the bottom of the video help identify all incoming information such as, for example, the flow of movement of the car and on the road, lane lines, objects and objects in the path, and all road signs. A bicyclist, pedestrian, or car is marked as an object, but becomes an object on the path if they cross the road or, in the case of a vehicle, stop or slow down to turn. And, at the end of the video, a tidbit of Elon Musk getting out of his car and she obediently parks.
