Have you noticed a sudden drop in your Wind SIM’s remaining credit? It’s likely that value-added services have been activated. Find out how to deactivate them
Some days ago you started receiving strange messages with jokes, horoscopes and weather forecasts and, at the same time, your remaining credit has dropped in a noticeable and unjustified way? Then it’s likely that, without your knowledge, value-added services have been activated on your mobile number and, week after week, they are using up all your credit (and inflating your bill).
Don’t you know what value-added services are? They are subscriptions to paid content (such as funny videos, the aforementioned horoscopes and jokes, as well as news and gossip) that are activated (perhaps erroneously or unintentionally) by clicking on an advertisement in a video game or that suddenly appear while you are reading an article or a news item on your smartphone. Fortunately, you can deactivate paid services on your cell phone and request that they be blocked, so that they can no longer be activated, even by mistake.
If you have a Wind SIM and have noticed strange drops in your remaining credit, it is likely that you too have ended up in this “circle of Hell”. To deactivate value-added services with Wind you have several options at your disposal, all of them quite simple. In a few seconds you will be able to get rid of the subscriptions and, at the same time, you can also ask for a refund of the amounts paid.
How to deactivate Wind paid services
One of the most convenient tools to deactivate VAS services is provided by AGCOM. The Communications Authority, in fact, has set up a toll-free number that allows you to withdraw from subscription services in a few tens of seconds. Just call 800.44.22.99 and follow the recorded voice to deactivate the paid services and, at the same time, ask to speak with Wind customer care to ask for a refund of the amount wrongly paid up to that moment.
If you are looking for a direct contact with your operator, however, I recommend that you call Wind customer care directly and, once the operator responds, ask him directly for the deactivation of VAS services. Alternatively, you can access your Customer Area from the website and, from the user interface, choose which services to deactivate.
Wind also gives you the possibility to deactivate subscription services by sending an SMS with the text “STOP” to the number 48048 for SMS info services or to the number 48005 for MMS info services.
How to block Wind paid services
After deactivating them, I recommend that you also activate the block of paid services, so that you no longer run the risk of activating them by mistake or distraction. To activate the block of Wind premium services you must call 155, talk to an operator and ask for SMS barring: thanks to this service you will be sure that your SIM card will be safe from the activation of subscriptions of all kinds. Alternatively, you can go directly to one of Wind’s authorized resellers and ask for their assistance.
How to ask for a refund of Wind paid services
If you have activated a value-added service on your phone by mistake, you can ask for a refund by contacting customer care directly at 155 or by calling the toll-free number of AGCOM 800.44.22.99 and follow the guided procedure.
