The process that will lead to the refinancing of the Bonus TV for 2022 is coming to an end: arrives a novelty for the elderly over 70, who will have everything for free
With the approval of the final text in the Budget Committee of the Senate on December 21, and with the vote of confidence this afternoon, the process of the maneuver 2022 is coming to an end, which must be approved by the House by December 31, 2021 to become law, and which contains within it numerous measures including the new Bonus TV 2022.
After the vote in the Senate, the law can no longer be modified, but only approved or rejected, so the current conformation of the Bonus TV 2022 is destined to be confirmed as it is, without further changes. We know, therefore, how the new contribution will be for those who still have to adapt to the new technical requirements arising from the switch off, and we also know that as early as January 3, 2022 the most obsolete TVs and decoders will no longer be able to tune dozens of channels in northern Italy, due to the now well-known “refarming” of frequencies. Here, therefore, is what the new Bonus TV 2022 will look like, who is entitled to it and how to obtain it.
New Bonus TV 2022: how much, how and to whom
The new Bonus TV 2022 provides funding of an additional 68 million euros to update old equipment with new devices (TVs or decoders) compatible with the DVB-T2 standard. The requirements are the same as the old Bonus TV with ISEE and without scrapping, i.e. the one launched in 2019.
So, anyone with an ISEE income not exceeding 20,000 euros will be able to access the Bonus TV 2022, provided they have not already enjoyed the bonus in the past. Also in this case it is possible to cumulate Bonus TV with ISEE and Bonus with scrapping, since for the latter there are still funds available to spend.
The maximum amount of the new Bonus TV 2022 amounts to 30 euros, provided in the form of a discount when buying the TV or decoder. There is also a separate chapter, with special funding, that provides for the possibility for the over 70s, with a maximum pension of 20,000 euros, to receive a decoder at home free of charge for a maximum cost of 30 euros.
Bonus TV 2022: free delivery for the elderly
Poste has already made itself available to the Government to deliver the decoders at home and to offer a telephone service to users, so that the elderly can receive assistance in connecting the new decoder to their old TV by themselves.
The over 70s, in practice, will be able to get the new decoder for free (if they choose one that does not cost more than 30 euros) and will not even have to pay for delivery or installation.
As the company explains on its website: “Citizens who will be entitled to access this additional facility will be informed by a letter from Poste Italiane that they can request and receive a decoder directly at home without having to go and buy it. Those who want to take advantage of this opportunity will be able to agree with the company an appointment by phone or through the post office or through a dedicated platform to fix a day on which the letter carrier will deliver the decoder at home.
