Microsoft is ready to land in the world of streaming video games with its own platform: Project xCloud. To announce it Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, during an event held at its headquarters. The Redmond company is now a reality in the world of video games: the Xbox is one of the most popular consoles and exclusive titles are increasing significantly.
But the future is streaming online. And Microsoft is aware of that. That’s why it is accelerating on the online video game streaming platform. In the words of Natya Sadella, Project xCloud will be the “Netflix of video games”. And even the operation will be similar. On the platform there will be a database with all the available titles and the user will be able to choose which one to play by paying a monthly subscription. The project will be very similar to what Sony has already done with PlayStation Now and Google with Project Stream.

Natya Sadella wants to put all the experience gained by Microsoft in recent years in the world of video games and technology. For this reason she feels she has an advantage over the competition. The goal is to develop a platform that gives fans the opportunity to play their favorite video games anywhere and anytime: just turn on the PC, connect to the Internet, log in to Project xCloud and start the video game.
The platform will make available to users the vast portfolio of video games that Microsoft has in its body, including Xbox games and exclusives launched in recent years. The platform should work like any other streaming service: you pay a monthly subscription to have access to the whole content database.
Project xCloud, the problems
Project xCloud could clash with the infrastructural backwardness of many nations. The project is very ambitious, but in order to maintain a very high quality standard a fast and working Internet network is necessary. For this reason it becomes more and more important to develop a 5G network quickly. And on this point Italy should be ahead of other European nations.
