YouTube revolution coming: goodbye to 30-second commercials

YouTube is thinking for 2018 to remove the 30-second commercials that don’t give the user the possibility to skip them

Being one of the top five most visited sites in the world has forced YouTube to introduce, since a few years now, advertising in videos. A choice that hasn’t made happy the users, forced to wait a few seconds before the beginning of the movie.

To be able to keep alive a streaming video platform with billions of movies it is necessary to find new solutions to monetize the traffic. And the easiest way is just introducing commercials before the start of the video. YouTube, however, is always attentive to user requests and seems intent on introducing some new features in the coming year. 30-second commercials that do not offer the user the possibility to skip them will be deleted.

What will change in YouTube advertising

The streaming video platform, after studying statistics, has noticed that users decide not to see the video if the initial advertisement does not offer the possibility to go to the movie or if it is too long. For this reason, YouTube is thinking about replacing the 30-second ads with 6- or 15-second ones, which are usually appreciated by users. This novelty should be introduced from next year and gradually integrated in all countries.
