It’s all set for Immuni’s debut on the Google Play Store and App Store. After more than a month since the announcement by Commissioner Arcuri and the Government, the application is finally ready. It’s been a long and troubled journey, but one that has finally yielded the expected result: a contact tracing app to help health authorities quickly intercept new outbreaks and prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Until a vaccine is available, you have to live with the virus and that means following the rules for social distancing and also using technological aids, such as the app. Initially, the Immuni app will be tested in four regions: Liguria, Puglia, Abruzzo and Marche, while the arrival in the rest of Italy will have to wait one more week. The testing phase will serve mainly to understand the functioning and discover the presence of any bugs.
App Immuni, how to download it
To download and install the app on your smartphone, simply access the Google Play Store or the App Store. Once installed and launched on the smartphone, you will start with the insertion of personal information and with the explanation of how Immuni works.
Immuni app test: the regions involved
It was supposed to be six regions in which to test Immuni, but in the end it was decided to opt for the four that had immediately accepted: Liguria, Puglia, Abruzzo and Marche. Citizens of these four regions will be able to download the app on their smartphones and begin to use it to test its functionality.
Immuni, the indications of the Guarantor
The Guarantor for privacy has given its green light to the application, but Immuni will have to respect some very important indications. This testing phase will also serve to understand if any corrections will be necessary before the official release.
Among the indications published by the Privacy Guarantor there are some very important ones: the app will have to inform users that a possible notification of exposure is not equivalent to an actual condition of risk. Users should also be able to deactivate the app at any time via a button on the main screen.
In addition, the Guarantor pays great attention to the issue of privacy. The data collected will have to be used only for epidemiological purposes and will have to be anonymous so that no one can trace it back to an infected person.
How Immuni works
Before installing Immuni on your smartphone, a quick recap on how the app should work is in order. At the heart of the tracking system is contatct tracing: Immuni will help reconstruct the contacts that have occurred between people in order to limit potential outbreaks. In the event that a person using Immuni proves positive for Covid-19, he can report it on the app and immediately will be notified “exposure to the virus” to all people who have the app activated on their smartphones. All these data are anonymous and in no way it is possible to trace them back to the infected person.
