The nominations for the Oscars 2021, the most famous and important film and entertainment awards in the world, have been announced. Here are the names.
Despite the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, the selection and awarding of the Oscars 2021 does not stop. The 93rd edition of the Academy Awards will be held on April 25, but in these hours the nominations for the various categories have been announced.
Because of Covid-19, many films released in the last year have not been broadcast in theaters, but through streaming platforms. For example, on Netflix you can see one of the films with the most nominations: Mank directed by David Fincher. In addition to this, is also available The Trial of the Chicago 7 while on Amazon Prime Video you can watch another title nominated among the best films, Sound of Metal. The categories are really a lot. Among them there is also the Oscar for Best Original Song, for which Laura Pausini has been nominated, with the song “Io sì” written and performed for the film La vita davanti a sè. Oscar nominations 2021: inclusivity watchword
This year it seems that the Academy members have been careful to make inclusive choices. They tried to represent everyone: women, Asians, African Americans. The 93rd edition of the Oscars 2021 is one of the most inclusive ever. We find 70 women out of 76 nominations, including, for the first time in the history of the Award, two female directors: Chloé Zhao and Emerald Fennell, for the films “Nomadland” and “Promising Young Woman,” respectively. Chloé Zhao is also the first woman to receive four nominations in a single year.
Actor Riz Ahmed, featured in Sound of Metal is instead the first Muslim nominee in the “Best Actor” category. While the film Judas and the Black Messiah, which received nominations for “Best Cinematography” and “Best Picture” has an African-American production behind it.
Italy at the Oscars 2021: the nominees
Italy also has its nominations for the Oscars 2021. Among them is Laura Pausini, already awarded at the Golden Globe 2021, with the song featured in the film La vita davanti a sé with Sophia Loren.
Pinocchio by Matteo Garrone instead has two nominations: for best costumes and for makeup and hairstyles.
Oscar Awards Ceremony 2021: where to watch it in Italy
The ceremony will be held Sunday, April 25, 2021 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. The Oscar 2021 awards ceremony in Italy will be broadcast on demand on the Sky Cinema Oscar channel (channel 303) and in streaming on NOW TV. In Italy you will therefore be able to watch between the night of April 25 and 26, 2021.
