The Galaxy Z Flip is the new foldable smartphone from Samsung: here are all the features, price and possible release date
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, this is the name chosen by the South Korean giant for its next foldable smartphone. There is a lot of anticipation around Samsung’s new device: this is the second flexible smartphone, successor to the Galaxy Fold. Compared to the previous model, however, the design and form factor is completely different. And just the design will be one of the highlights of the Galaxy Z Flip.
According to the latest rumors and many renderings published online, the Galaxy Z Flip will have a clamshell opening, a system very similar to that shown by Motorola for the new RAZR. The Galaxy Z Flip will be one of the protagonists of the Galaxy Unpacked 2020, an event that Samsung is organizing for February 11 in San Francisco. On stage, in addition to the flexible smartphone, will also find place the new family of Galaxy S20, five top-of-the-line smartphones (three with 5G support) ready to attack the market and fight with the iPhone 11 Pro and all the devices coming out in the coming months. Design and features Galaxy Z Flip
In comparison to the Galaxy Fold, the new foldable smartphone has a completely different form factor. Samsung wanted to change its approach to make a device that is durable right out of the box. For this reason, it has used a screen made with a different technology than that of the Fold. It’s called Ultra Thin Glass and it guarantees a better resistance of the device, but the exact same flexibility.
The smartphone has a clamshell opening, very similar to that of the old cell phones of the early 2000s. The size is quite compact and once opened, the screen has a 6.7-inch diagonal with FullHD resolution and a refresh rate that should be 90 Hz, providing a better user experience. At the top center there is a hole with the front camera inside.
The data sheet gives some surprises: on board we have the Snapdragon 855 with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal memory. Features from true top of the range, despite the presence of a processor released last year. On board there will be Android 10 with the OneUI 2.0. The battery should be 3,300mAh.
Photographic compartment Galaxy Z Flip
The size and form factor of the smartphone does not allow the presence of a very large photographic compartment. Inside the device we find a selfie camera, while on the rear shell there are two other photo sensors, both 12 megapixels (the secondary is for ultra-wide angle photos).
Price and release date Galaxy Z Flip
The presentation of the Galaxy Z Flip is set for February 11, while the market release is expected between April and May 2020. Very interesting also the price: the Galaxy Z Flip should cost less than 1000 euros, a price significantly lower than the Galaxy fold (over 2000 euros).
