Pocket computer with Windows 10, from Holland comes Sirius A

The device has the size of a phablet, but mounts all the ports that usually find space in a personal computer. Very ductile, on sale from May 2017

For some time now, several smartphone manufacturers have been trying to make smartphones with Windows 10 “on board” capable of countering the overwhelming power of the Android-iOS duo. The last in order of time is the American HP, but users have never shown much interest about these “experiments”.

Maybe Sirius A, a mobile device made by the Dutch startup Ockel that tries to create a hybrid between computer and smartphone, will have better luck. While 2-in-1 hybrid laptops (laptops with touch screens that can also be used as tablets) are now the norm and there are dozens of them on the market, the idea of the Dutch company is revolutionary in some ways. And this, perhaps, is its worst Achilles Heel: the Sirius A will have to “create” a market, trying to create interest in users. A task far from simple, given the overabundance of smartphone models available today.

Like a smartphone

Reading the technical specifications you immediately get the idea that you’re dealing with a medium-high end smartphone. The 6-inch FullHD display (resolution 1920×1080 pixels) is “embedded” in an aluminum body that, if necessary, also acts as a heat sink for the heat developed by the mini-computer system. Inside we find a quadcore Intel Atom SoC, 4 gigabytes of RAM, 64 gigabytes of storage space (expandable with microSD card), 3,000 mAh battery, gyroscope, accelerometer, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Sirius A

From the campaign, you can also infer the list price of the Sirius A: $699, a figure in line with that of other devices in the same performance range.
