Huawei Mate X arrives in September, but not for everyone

The Huawei Mate X should finally be launched on the market: the debut is scheduled for September, although in limited numbers

After the presentation last February during the Mobile World Congress 2019 with the promise to see it on the market as soon as possible, it seems to have arrived the time de debut of the Huawei Mate X, the flexible smartphone of the Chinese company. Compared to the initial promises, the foldable smartphone is severely delayed. The reasons are mainly two: the delays accumulated in the production chain and the tests carried out by Huawei to make sure that all hardware components work at their best.

After Samsung’s half-flop with the Galaxy Fold (the release of the smartphone was extended from April to September due to problems with the screen and with the protective frame), the Chinese company did not want to make the same mistake and rush things. Now comes the news that tech enthusiasts have been waiting for: the smartphone should be launched on the market by the end of September. At first, however, the number of stocks will be limited to verify that everything works at its best. After all, the launch price of the device is expected to exceed €2,000 and mistakes or problems are not allowed.

Why the Huawei Mate X will be produced in limited numbers

The Chinese company wants to keep the situation under control and get users’ feedback immediately. That’s why it might even decide to limit the release of the Mate X to some specific countries and release it worldwide only after a few weeks. Precautions can never be too many when working on an innovative device with never-before-used hardware components (the OLED screen and the hinge that allows you to fold the smartphone back on itself).

After this first run-in phase, the production chain could increase its “power” and meet user demand.

The features of the Huawei Mate X

For those who don’t remember the features of the Mate X, it is a foldable smartphone with a large 8-inch screen when fully open. When closed on itself, it has a 6.38-inch rear screen and a 6.6′’ front screen. On the side, to facilitate the grip there is a batta (M Bar) that integrates three photo lenses and sensors for unlocking.

On board there is the Kirin 980 chipset supported by 8GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. Also present is the Balong 5000 modem for superfast 5G connectivity. There are two batteries, both 4500mAh.
