Google, Security Check helps find vulnerabilities in account

Google has updated the Security Check feature to help users improve privacy and phishing protection on Mountain View accounts

For Google, October is prevention month in terms of cybersecurity. And for this reason Mountain View has decided to implement a new feature within its systems to improve the cybersecurity of users. We’re talking about the Security Check service. Here’s how it works.

The purpose of this new feature is to improve the protection of the Google account and avoid that vulnerabilities expose us to a theft of credentials or confidential information. Security Check is not a new service within Mountain View accounts but it has been revamped from the past. It is now customizable according to our needs. When we access the service, present in the settings of our account, we will also receive information and advice about the general security of our Google account. If we enter the service and see a green tick, it means that our profile is protected.

If, on the other hand, we see an exclamation point, it means that we have to change some settings to defend our online privacy. The exclamation mark will be yellow or red depending on the level of danger we are exposed to.

Anti-Phishing Filter

Basically, the new Security Check feature is a kind of smart helper to protect the security of our account. The service will constantly update itself over time to bypass new hacker threats and remedy any vulnerabilities that are discovered over time. In addition to giving advice to users on how to change the security settings, the function will also protect the Google account from the threats of phishing attacks. Thanks to the Safe Browsing service in fact Mountain View has recorded and included feedback on malicious sites that try to scam users. In this way we’ll be warned every time we click on a dangerous link or when we try to enter a website reported for phishing attacks in the past. A new feature for predictive checking from phishing malware will also be included on Security Checker. This will prevent the user from entering data, credentials or other information on fake sites, with different URLs from the originals, that try to steal our identity or bank account.
