The Galaxy A8 will have dual front cameras and an Infinity Display screen (similar to that of the Galaxy S8). Will it be unveiled at CES 2018?
Not just Galaxy S9. While rumors about the launch of Samsung’s new top of the line in the first months of 2018 begin to increase (with the presentation even set for CES 2018 – the electronics fair that is organized every year in Las Vegas – or at the latest for Mobile World Congress 2018 – the fair dedicated to smartphones held in Barcelona), the South Korean company is also working on other devices. Such as, for example, the new Galaxy A (2018).
The Galaxy A series has always brought great satisfaction to the South Korean company. It is a high-end mid-range smartphone that is characterized by excellent quality of materials and a solid photo compartment. It usually has a much more affordable price than the Galaxy S and is dedicated to all those who do not want to spend a crazy amount of money on the purchase of the new smartphone. For the 2018 edition of the Galaxy A it would seem that Samsung is ready to change the design and naming of the smartphone, abandoning the classic A3, A5 and A7 (which differ in screen size) to embrace a simpler nomenclature: A8 and A8+, where the number highlights the year of release (for 2019 it should be called A9).
The features of the Samsung A8 and A8+
The first important fact concerns the number of models that Samsung will launch on the market of the Galaxy A. No longer three as in the past, but only two. Both will feature an Infinity Display screen (18:9 aspect ratio), the same one we’ve already seen this year on the Galaxy S8.

The smartphone mounts an 18:9 5.5-inch screen with an aspect ratio of 2260×1080 pixels. Under the display is the Exynos 7885 chipset supported by 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, expandable up to 256GB with a microSD card. At the back there will be a 16-megapixel camera with 1.7 focal aperture and optical stabilization, while at the front there will be a dual camera with a 16-megapixel sensor and an 8-megapixel sensor, both with 1.9 focal aperture. 3000mAh battery with a fingerprint sensor at the back. The smartphone will be waterproof and dustproof thanks to IP67 certification.
The Galaxy A8 Plus will have similar features. The hardware compartment will be the same: Exynos 7885 chipset, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory. Same thing about the photo sensors. The only thing that will change is the size of the screen (6 inches) and the power of the battery (3500mAh).
Galaxy A8 in Italy
It is difficult to predict whether both models will be marketed in Italy. It is very likely that Samsung will decide to launch in the Bel Paese only the Galaxy A8, so as not to step on the toes of the Galaxy S8 and the upcoming Galaxy S9. The Galaxy A8+ version will most likely be marketed only in the Asian market. When will we see the Galaxy A8 in Italy? A lot will depend on the official presentation: if it will take place during CES 2018 it could be launched on the market already in February, while if it will be postponed to the Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona it will be necessary to wait for March.
Colors and versions Galaxy A8
The Galaxy A8 will be available in three different colors: Black, Gold and Orchid Gray. Three will also be the versions launched on the market. The base model will have 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, the mid-range model will have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, while the premium version will have 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, but it will probably only be available in the Asian market.
