The U.S. IT giant in 2018 will focus heavily on 3D printing with a new platform for the creation of metal and multicolor objects
HP has decided to revolutionize the world of 3D printing devices with a new platform for the creation of metal objects. It is a solution that will be launched from early 2018 and HP’s aim is to make metal 3D printing mainstream.
According to research carried out by the California-based IT group, in the next few years the metal 3D printing sector in the manufacturing industry will reach $12 billion. That’s why HP has come up with a device for SMEs and large companies that can make quality products but also metal prototypes in a short time and very precisely. And in 2018 the company will definitely enter the field of 3D printing also with another tool, this one will serve for the creation of multicolor objects and will be built only with durable and quality components.
HP and 3D printing
HP created its first 3D printer in 2016 but for now the company has not managed to become a leader in the field. For the U.S. group, however, 3D printing is one of the fastest growing sectors where it pays to invest. So 2018 could be the year that will change the hierarchies among the various 3D printer manufacturers. CEO Cathie Lesjak said: “3D printing is still a nascent industry and for now you have to invest than reap big profits. But it’s a constantly evolving field and to fall behind at this stage of 3D printing would mean a huge, perhaps unbridgeable gap with the industry leaders in a couple of years. Very soon, many companies will be using these solutions in their production chain.
