Apple will increase the prices of apps in the App Store: the minimum price will go from €0.99 to €1.09. The increases will start from the first week of May
The Euro is sailing in bad waters and Apple has no intention of giving discounts to Euroland users. The exchange rate with other currencies has become more unfavorable for our currency and from next week applications and in-app purchases will be increased in all markets where the Euro is used, therefore, also in Italy.
Apple will start to increase the minimum price of applications from 1.09 € against the current 0.99 €. Then it will be the turn of those that cost €1.99 that will be on sale at €2.29 and so on, until more considerable increases. This is the third price increase by the Cupertino giant since the birth of the App Store. Something similar had already happened in 2012 when the base price went from €0.79 to €0.89, raised later to €0.99 and now to €1.09.
Minimum increases, but still increases!
The move of Apple arrives in a clear sky and the increases will start from the beginning of May. Here’s the full text of the message that developers found in their inboxes from Apple: “Due to changes in exchange rates, prices for apps and in-app purchases – excluding auto-renewable subscriptions – will increase in Denmark, Mexico and all territories using the Euro currency over the next 7 days. Auto-renewable subscription prices will not be affected. You can change the price of your subscription at any time in iTunes Connect with the option to keep existing subscriber prices.” A price hike that comes just days after Cupertino’s announcement regarding lowering revenues from 7% to 2.5% for affiliate sites that feature and promote iOS apps.
