The Chinese company that produces smartphones and technological devices is also coming to Italy, with the opening of an official store in Milan
The officiality is not there yet, but everything suggests that Xiaomi is also coming to Italy. From the latest rumors, the Chinese company has opened a legal office in Italy hiring some employees, has created an official page on Facebook and will soon open a physical store in Milan. In the last few years Xiaomi has become very appreciated by Italian users thanks to smartphones with excellent value for money, but the purchase of the devices was quite complicated.
Having neither a physical store in Italy, nor an official reseller, users were forced to buy Xiaomi smartphones directly from Chinese online stores or e-commerce sites that import the phones from the Far East. In case the smartphone broke or showed any problems, it was necessary to ship the device directly to China and you had to wait at least a couple of weeks. With the arrival of Xiaomi in Italy, there will be no problems either with shipments, or with the assistance: everything will be done within the Italian territory and users will have more guarantees.
What is Xiaomi
Xiaomi is a Chinese company founded in 2010 by Lei Jun and in eight years has managed to become one of the leading manufacturers of smartphones in the world. The secret of Xiaomi’s success is in having managed to make high quality cell phones at a price significantly lower than their rivals. In China is now among the top five manufacturers by number of smartphones sold. So far the Chinese company has preferred not to expose itself on the international market: the phones are sold only in China and non-Chinese users who want to buy a Xiaomi smartphone must turn to Asian retailers or companies that import devices from the Far East.
But since 2017 Xiaomi has decided to change strategy. First by deciding to open a physical store in Spain and thenĀ putting on sale in Italy some devices on e-commerce sites (including Amazon). At the beginning of 2018, the Chinese company decided to accelerate the arrival in Italy and hired new staff that will be part of the company’s management in the Bel Paese. But not only that. Confirmation has arrived that premises have been rented in Milan to open a physical store dedicated exclusively to Xiaomi products (very similar to the Apple Store to be clear). And on Facebook was also created the official page of Xiaomi Italy. All clues that lead to the same conclusion: Xiaomi is ready to land in Italy.
What to expect from the arrival of Xiaomi in Italy
The general public knows Xiaomi mainly for smartphones. But Xiaomi is a 360 degrees company and produces really everything: from fitness trackers to laptops, passing through backpacks, writing pens, knives, cookware and clothing. Most likely in Italy we will not see all these products, but Xiaomi will focus exclusively on technological devices. Inside the physical store that Xiaomi will open in Milan there will definitely be smartphones (not all devices made by the Chinese company that are really many, but only the most iconic models and with the best value for money), but also fitness trackers (Mi Band 2) and backpacks for work. There could be also robots to clean the house and smartwatches (Amazfit).
As far as prices are concerned, it is necessary to keep in mind that in the transition from China to Italy there will be a slight increase. But users who will buy the Xiaomi smartphone in Italy will have the security of warranty and assistance. In addition to the physical store, Xiaomi is also closing agreements with some Italian retailers to bring their smartphones even inside the big shopping malls.
