IOS 13: what will change in iPhones

Although it’s still a while before the official presentation, the first rumors about iOS 13 are starting to leak out. Here’s how it will be and which iPhones are compatible

The anticipation grows among users of Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch for iOS 13, the next release of the operating system of the bitten apple. Although there is still no official information about it, as always happens with the news that potentially affect millions and millions of users, even on iOS 13 rumors are not lacking.

Apple will officially present iOS 13 only in June this year, and then put it in public Beta Program shortly after. The iOS 13 release date is expected to be in fall 2019. Current analyst estimates predict that devices compatible with iOS 13 will be all iPhones from 6 onwards, the sixth-generation iPod Touch, the iPad Pro, iPad Air, the iPad Mini 4, and the regular fifth- and sixth-generation iPads. But what will be the main new features of iOS 13? Here are the most reliable predictions.

Dark Mode on iOS 13

Among the features that will almost certainly debut on iOS 13 is Dark Mode, which is the dark theme that emits little light to rest your eyes in the evening and, most importantly, consume much less battery on smartphones equipped with OLED screens. Already many apps are adopting it and it is almost certain that Apple’s next operating system will support it natively.

New Home Screen on iOS 13

A new Home screen design on iOS 13 for smartphones and tablets is very likely. No details on this are known yet, but it’s likely that Apple CarPlay’s home screen will also be updated.

New iOS 13 features for iPad

Another new feature that everyone expects from iOS 13 concerns iPad tablets that will most likely receive new features such as an updated version of the file management app, a little more multitasking with the ability to open two tabs in the same app and improvements to the Apple Pencil.

New augmented reality features on iOS

At the moment, Apple has the most powerful API kit for augmented reality on mobile devices: ARKit. It’s a feature on which the Cupertino company is betting a lot and the first applications that exploit it are starting to arrive, such as the next version of the very popular game Angry Birds. It is reasonable to think that with the new operating system will also come an update of ARKit.

Live Photo longer on iOS 13

Among other innovations that could come with the thirteenth version of iOS there could also be support for Live Photo longer: animated photos will last longer.

New emoji on iOS 13

Another minor novelty, but that will be appreciated by the younger audience, is that relating to new sets of emoji. The Unicode Consortium will release new icons for messages later this year, and it’s very likely that Apple will support at least a few of them on iOS 13.
