IPhone 12, the first 3D models arrive: how they will be

New rumors arrive about the applephone expected in September 2020. A Japanese blog shows a 3D model of the four models expected

The Apple 2020 smartphone, the long-awaited iPhone 12, is shown to the public in a first “mockup”: the Japanese blog MacOtakara has in fact published some photos of three-dimensional models of the next apple phone, showing the alleged shapes and sizes of the versions of 5.4, 6.1 and 6.7 inches. Unfortunately, however, this indiscretion seems to confirm that MacOtakara is no longer very reliable when it publishes a leak.

Because, this time, what it publishes is very different from what other leakers and other insiders predict, such as the well-known and (he yes) very reliable Ming-Chi Kuo. But not only that: these mockups contradict other mockups of the iPhone 12, previously shown by the same site MacOtakara. Those published in the past are a mockup of a device with a size of 5.4 inches, with a shape halfway between an iPhone SE and an iPhone 8, a 6.1-inch version with dimensions straddling those of the iPhone 11 and those of the iPhone 11 Max and a 6.7-inch version that is a bit taller than the 11 Pro Max. What is striking, for the latter, is the thickness: significantly lower than that of the current iPhone 11. Will this really be the shape of the iPhone 2020?

iPhone 12: what the leakers say

According to MacOtakara, the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 “will have a height halfway between iPhone SE and iPhone 8”, while the 6.1-inch version “will be halfway between iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro Max”. Finally, the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 will be “slightly taller than the iPhone 11 Pro Max.” The thickness of the 6.7-inch model will be just 7.4 millimeters, compared to 8.1 on the iPhone 11 Max, and it will feature a rear camera department with a larger sensor than the 11 Pro Max.

MacOtakara and Ming-Chi Kuo’s reports instead agree that the 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch models will have dual cameras at the rear. But Ming-Chi Kuo also claims that there will be an iPhone, also 6.1-inch, with triple camera and ToF sensor (which will also be present in the 6.7-inch version).

iPhone 12: design like the iPhone 4?

In the past, Ming-Chi Kuo, who is usually reliable because he cites internal reports from Apple’s Asian supply chain, claimed that the iPhone 12 will have a design very similar to the iPhone 4 and a completely different shell than the iPhone 11. All this because of the new 5G modem, which for better signal transmission required a deep engineering work on the case of the future Apple smartphone.
