Ot and Octo Telematics will unveil a secure and fast vehicle unlocking system at the MWC in Barcelona. The technology is based on OT’s Secure IOT cloud
At the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona, there will also be room for cybersecurity. Octo Telematics and OT have decided to collaborate together to improve the security of car sharing, lately in the crosshairs, with a rather worrying frequency, of hackers.
OT, specialized in cybersecurity solutions, and Omoove, a company of Octo Telematics, an expert in technological supplies for shared mobility, will present, in fact, from the stage of the Spanish kermesse, a service that, according to a shared note, “transforms the smartphone into the car keys”. EasyOpen, the name the two companies have given to the technology, is based on OT’s Secure IOT Could, a system that promises to make access to vehicles fast and above all secure, as they are increasingly affected by hackers.
How EasyOpen works
EasyOpen, in fact, according to what the two companies say, can also work on other devices. The important thing is that a device integrates eSE (acronym for embedded Secure Element) and NFC (Near Field Communication) technology. The system of OT and Omoove, as anticipated, allows to protect the digital keys that users get after they have signed up to the platform through the EasyOpen application. The credentials, in fact, are stored in the eSE and will be sent to drivers, in complete security, through the OT Secure IOT Cloud. At this point to unlock the vehicles will be sufficient to bring the smartphone (or other wearable) to the windshield. But that’s not all. In fact, the app will also help users locate the nearest car.
Beware of security
The difference with other communication systems is security. Thanks to Secure IOT Cloud OT, it will be more difficult to intercept the login credentials created by the system. Moreover, as stated in the note, in case of theft or loss of the device, the keys can be deactivated remotely.
