Nokia presents at IFA the Nokia 2720 Flip, the Nokia 110 and the Nokia 800 Tough, three cell phones with a physical keyboard and support for WhatsApp
Nokia is one of the leading companies at IFA 2019, the fair dedicated to the world of technology that is taking place in Berlin. The Finnish company has unveiled three new cell phones that will add to the rich range of old-style phones launched in recent years.
With the new “Nokia Originals”, the Scandinavian giant covers a large slice of fans. The Nokia 2720 Flip, as you can guess from the name, is a classic flip phone (so to speak similar to the Motorola RAZR) with the KaiOS operating system inside that allows the installation of WhatsApp. For those who perform dangerous work, Nokia has launched the Nokia 800 Tough, an indestructible cell phone that resists falls, water and dust. Finally, Nokia has also thought of those who do not want to spend big bucks on a cell phone. The Nokia 110 has a physical keyboard, a small color screen and costs only 29 euros. All three cell phones will be available in Italy by the end of the year: Nokia’s objective is to strengthen its market share in a sector, that of featured phones, which is experiencing a second youth.
Nokia 2720 Flip, the cell phone with two screens
The flip phone is a classic that never fades. And Nokia offers an updated version. The Nokia 2720 Flip is a classic cell phone that can be closed “clamshell” with a small external screen where you can read notifications and see who is calling. The internal screen, however, is 2.8 inches. The smartphone is based on the Qualcomm 205 platform with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory, expandable up to 32GB. Also present is a 2-megapixel camera. Removable 1500mAh battery that provides an autonomy of a couple of days.
The most important feature, concerns the presence of the operating system KaiOS. This is a new OS very much in vogue in the last period, which allows you to transform old phones into smart devices. On the KaiStore there are all the most used apps: WhatsApp, Facebook, Google Assistant, YouTube and Google Maps.
Nokia 110, the low-cost mobile phone
Nokia has also thought of those who do not want to spend a large sum of money. The Nokia 110 is one of the most iconic models of the Finnish company and now comes in a new version, with a more modern design. The color display has a diagonal of 1.7 inches with a memory of 4GB, expandable up to 32GB with microSD. In the back there is also a camera with maximum resolution QVGA. The battery is 800mAh and ensures a standby time of up to 18 days. The Nokia 110 will be available at a price of 29 euros.
Nokia 800 Tough, the indestructible mobile phone
The Nokia 800 Tough is the cell phone designed for those who perform dangerous work or who love adventure. It is a cell phone with IP68 protection and is also MIL-STD-810G certified, which guarantees the “indestructibility” of the device. Ideal for those who work in construction sites.
Another great feature of the Nokia 800 Tough is the battery: 2100mAh that guarantees a month of autonomy. The color screen is 2.4 inches. The smartphone mounts a Qualcomm 205 chipset with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory. 2 Megapixel camera.
The Nokia 800 Tough also mounts the KaiOS operating system, which allows you to install WhatsApp, Facebook and all major Google apps. The launch price is 110 euros.
KaiOS, the operating system of the future
In great rise in recent months, the KaiOS operating system is designed for low-cost devices. Initially it spread to developing countries, but now it is also growing in Europe thanks to old style cell phones such as the Nokia 800 Tough. The success of the operating system has convinced Google to invest 50 million dollars to further develop the OS.
So have software developers recognized the goodness of the project and giants such as Facebook and Google have begun to release applications for KaiOS. In the KaiStore we find WhatsApp, Facebook, Google Assistant, Google Maps and YouTube.
