According to the latest rumors, the iPhone 12 will have a much smaller notch that will allow to enlarge the screen. Here’s how the design of the smartphone changes
We are still four months away (if the date is confirmed) from the presentation of the iPhone 12, but in recent days have appeared online numerous rumors about how the new Apple smartphone will be. The latest revelation in chronological order concerns the design of the new Apple phone thanks to two images shared by Jon Prosser, who also in the past had anticipated some features of the devices of the bitten apple.
The photos published online seem to describe in detail a substantial change in the design of the iPhone aimed at optimizing the screen space and not only. The images released by the leaker seem to be schematic drawings that illustrate the adoption by Apple of an unprecedented notch. The new iPhone 12 could thus sport a TrueDepth sensor (the one used for facial recognition, but not only) substantially smaller than that adopted so far on the smartphones of the Californian brand.
iPhone 12: the new revelations
The images posted on Twitter show a preview of the new design of the iPhone screen characterized by the introduction of a new TrueDepth sensor with a different arrangement of the elements that make it up and the displacement of the earphone speaker embedded within the edge of the body. The new notch is more compact, giving, thus, a greater space for the screen.
The new notch that should presumably debut on the iPhone 12 would consist of five elements: the infrared camera and the sensor “Flood illuminator” on the left, in the center the proximity sensor, the camera and the depth sensor on the right. The greater space obtained by moving the ear speaker to the edge of the phone’s shell means that the notch is reduced.
iPhone 12 Pro: the rumors
Always Twitter has been at the center of a series of revelations about the arrival of the latest iPhone 12, in particular the Pro version. A series of images published by the user @conceptsiphone and relaunched by @Choco_bit a few days ago show an additional lens dedicated to the LiDAR scanner, the same just inserted on the latest model of the iPad Pro released a few weeks ago. Acronym for Light Detection and Ranging or Laser Imaging Detection and Ranging, the LiDAR scanner is a remote sensing technique that allows you to determine the distance of an object or surface using a laser pulse. The design in question could definitively unveil Apple’s plans for augmented reality, a technology in which the Cupertino-based company has always been interested.
