Apple, tech support confirms upcoming AR/VR viewer release

Cupertino is working on a new type of augmented reality viewer that could also work with virtual reality for the first time

For quite some time now, Apple has been working on making its own virtual and augmented reality viewer. With the launch of the new iPhone 8 Cupertino has made a big leap ahead of the competition on the theme of augmented reality, thanks mainly to the new ARKit platform.

To give the news was the staff of Apple Support. This branch of the U.S. company has hinted during a conversation on an unrelated topic, then published on the Net, that Cupertino may soon present a visor for augmented and virtual reality. At the moment there is not much information about the technical specifications and functions that the device will have. From Apple Support have stated that it will be a classic visor but that it will have some innovative tools. For example, we will be able to create videos in virtual reality then to share online with friends and family.

Apple bets everything on AR

After the presentation of the ARKit platform on iOS 11, to create applications in augmented reality, it seems clear that Apple is betting everything or almost in the short future on AR and VR. An aspect that within a few months could also change the habits of users. According to the first rumors to make the optics of the visor, Apple will rely on the German company Carl Zeiss. As for the release date of the device, there are still no confirmations. For some, the visor will see store shelves towards the end of autumn almost simultaneously with the iPhone 8. The less optimistic instead believe that Cupertino’s augmented and virtual reality platform won’t be launched until 2018.
