PlayStation 5, unveiled the possible price of the console: how much does it cost

The price of the PlayStation 5 continues to hold court. This time comes from a Canadian store a rumor regarding the price. Here’s how much it could cost

After the event live online on YouTube during which Sony has officially unveiled all the features and specifications of the long-awaited PlayStation 5, the only thing that remains to be known and for which continue to chase rumors and rumors on the web, is the price and release date.If on the latter there is now the certainty that it will take place between November and December 2020, on the price there are still many doubts.

What will be the selling price of the PS5? In the last months the answer to this question has been in the center of attention with rumors coming from very different sources. Even Deutsche Bank estimated months ago the production cost to be around $499. Even the financial newspaper Bloomberg had assumed a production cost of 450 dollars. For now, the Japanese giant has not confirmed or denied the likely prices of the PS5, leaving everything wrapped up. In addition, if we consider the rumors related to the possible launch of two PS5 different for technical characteristics and power, the problem “price” becomes more tangled.

PlayStation 5: what will be the price?

The latest rumor in order of time on the price of the PlayStation 5 comes from a Canadian chain of stores, the Play N Trade. Apparently, an exchange of messages has appeared on Facebook between several users and the official account of the Canadian chain. Messages in which they talk about the possibility to book the new Sony console at the price of 559 Canadian dollars.

At the current exchange rate it would be a little less than 370 euros, which due to the rounding up effect would come to 399 euros. A sum perfectly in line with what happened during the launch of the PlayStation 4. On the official website of Play N Trade, however, there is nothing because the reservations, according to the messages appeared on Facebook, are accepted only in physical stores of the chain.

PlayStation 5: April Fools’ Day?

But there is something that does not fit. Many analysts had already assumed that the price of the PS5 would be higher than that applied at the launch of the PS4. To the use of advanced components and the use of a special cooling system for the processor, must be added the expenses for marketing, distribution and investment in research and development, items that raise the production costs and assume a final selling price around $ 500.

Back to Play N Trade, their preorder pricing policy is not very clear. At this point, the possibility that this is an April Fool’s joke designed ad hoc to garner some free publicity is becoming more and more apparent.
