The Reels are ready to arrive on Facebook. They have already arrived in reality, but only in test: positive responses, soon perhaps in permanent installation
After arriving on Instagram, the Reels arrive on Facebook, the common thread is the same: to make the “war” on TikTok. The struggle for the domination of social networks also pass through these dynamics (which also concern Reddit), and the Facebook Group, evidently strong of the results obtained on Instagram by the Reels, has decided to bring them also on the “main” social network.
Facebook will end up being a bit more similar to TikTok, in an attempt to stem the overwhelming power gained in a very short time by the Chinese social network, which at the beginning was very popular especially among young people but with time has ended up captivating even those who are older. So here’s why Facebook’s top management has decided to go on the counterattack, starting in the U.S. – as announced in recent hours – the preparatory tests for the introduction of Facebook Reels, the feature that will bring on the social short and funny videos that have driven the success of TikTok.
Reels on Facebook, how they will work
Facebook of course has every intention of creating synergy between the social networks it owns, so right from the start the American users who will be chosen – we imagine few and randomly, as is usually the case – to participate in the testing phase of the Reels will be proposed to publish on Facebook Reels composed on Instagram, in the wake of what already happens now with “simple” posts and stories.
The company of Zuckerberg has officially spoken about the news, explaining that the Reels will be displayed in the news flow and within groups, where the advantage is to be able to watch and comment with a circle of people, acquaintances or strangers with whom, however, perhaps, you share the same passion.
Facebook Reels have been in test for some time in India, Mexico and Canada, the novelty is the extension to some American users, a symptom, evidently, of the fact that the tests in the three initial regions have gone as imagined, and that perhaps the reaction of users has been positive.
It’s hard to imagine that after the extension of the testing phase to the U.S. other regions will be involved, more likely that after some time from the start of the tests in the nation of Facebook the distribution takes place on a permanent basis for the whole world, provided of course that the tests continue to give positive feedback on all fronts.
Why Reels on Facebook
Reels will not only be posted on Facebook through Instagram, but it is Zuckerberg’s company itself to allow its audience to make them through its own app for Android and iOS. The social lets it be known that the novelty is designed to give people a way “to express themselves, discover fun content and help content creators expand their audience.”
The idea to bring Reels to Facebook started from observing how users spend their time on the platform. The company says that nearly half of the time on social is spent watching videos, so it expects Reels to quickly win over audiences.
