The Chinese company, despite all its and the industry’s difficulties, is preparing three new affordable foldable models.
Three new foldable and cheap smartphones: this is what’s in Huawei’s near future for the second half of 2021. The world of foldable could therefore soon witness the arrival of new models, priced – at least according to the forecasts – more affordable than what we have seen so far on the market.
The news of the arrival of the devices made by the Chinese company comes from the site DigiTimes. If it were to be confirmed, the three new phones would be added to the other foldable recently launched on the market by Huawei, namely Mate X2, the device with booklet closure and external screen on sale since last February (here the info on this model). Unlike what should be the new models, the smartphone, currently on sale exclusively in China, is characterized by a particularly high price: in fact, it is available with a list price of 17,999 yuan, at the exchange rate equal to just under 2300 euros.
Huawei, what are the plans for the three foldable
According to the news spread by DigiTimes, Huawei would aim at lower figures just to push on sales, sore point of many of the smartphones from the characteristic form factor. In fact, all foldable devices seen so far on sale have suffered from high prices, obviously also linked to higher production costs compared to those of cell phones from the more canonical format.
On the design, however, there are still no specific information. In particular, what worries most is the shortage of chips and other key components that could risk slowing down production operations, as already happened with the flagship series of smartphones P50.
In any case, the line of low prices is not entirely new, since a similar idea had also flashed at home in Samsung. For 2021, in fact, even the South Korean giant had put among its plans a foldable from the low price, Galaxy Z Fold Lite, with a price that the well-informed had estimated – at the exchange rate – between 750 and 850 euros.
Recently, however, the company has confirmed its desire to slow down the pace. For this reason, the final decision has provided for the exclusive production of only two foldable models during the course of the year, Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3, de facto postponing the debut of the version of the cheaper Lite.
Huawei foldables, when will they arrive on the market
At present, it is too early to have certain dates relating to the arrival on the market of the foldable of Huawei, although it is estimated that the prices are likely to remain below 900 euros. For more detailed information, therefore, we just have to wait and see what the company’s next move in the field will be.
