With the upcoming official release of Android version 12, there are many new features called to take the field to improve the end-user experience. Among them, one will concern the background image, a choice that will soon be able to affect some details of the operating system as well. Here’s why and what it’s all about.
To highlight the peculiar aspect that will be an integral part of the upcoming release, was the leaker Pan Du from his Twitter account. The feature is included in the beta already available for download through Google Play Store for devices from the Pixel 3/3 XL series on up. The introduction is one of the cores of “Material You”, the new design that debuts with release number 12 and that brings on the operating system of Big G interesting changes in terms of style and graphical interface. In this case, it will be the background image that will dictate the palette of tones that will dominate the interface, taking advantage of a particular recognition of color management.
Android 12, be careful what you choose
As mentioned above, the ability to change the general color of the interface is one of the superpowers of Material You. The mechanism that guides the operation acts in a targeted manner, performing an analysis of the graphics set up that will allow the algorithm to isolate and recreate a collection of colors based on those prominent in the user’s selection.
So if a photo of the sea background will lead to a UI characterized by blue tones, a snapshot of a lush forest will create a palette on shades of green and brown. The result will be, in all its expressions, harmonious and homogeneous with respect to the wallpaper, which thus becomes a much more central element than before.
The feature belongs to the broader feature called “Color Extraction”, which allows you to apply such connotation not only to the Google Discover feed but to the entire operating system, including native Android applications installed on devices equipped with the new OS of Big G.
Android 12, a new style
Material You is one of the focal aspects ended up in the spotlight during the Google I/O event of 2021. Since 2014, the year of birth of the so-called Material Design, the giant has always remained cautious about innovations in terms of style of its operating system, focusing more on the capabilities than on the look.
With Android 12 Mountain View gives new life to the aesthetic thanks to the application of the balloon in the shape of a comic strip. Notifications, as well as menu elements, widgets and buttons will be characterized by a softer profile, with rounded tips and “gentle” compared to previous versions. Android 12 is almost ready: we just have to wait and see all the evolutions that the robot has in store for its users.
